Dr. Georgie’s Complete New Morkie Puppy Checklist
Getting a morkie puppy is one of the best decisions you can make. I was not prepared. Georgie arrived and I realized I had bought a bed (wrong size), a collar (wrong size), and food (wrong formula). Here is the checklist I wish I had.
Feeding Setup
- Small breed puppy food — puppy formula specifically, not adult
- Small stainless steel bowls — plastic can cause chin acne
- Measuring scoop — portions matter for tiny breeds
Small breed puppy food | Stainless steel small bowls.
Sleep Setup
- Small donut or bolster bed — morkies like to curl against something
- Crate (highly recommended for training) — 18″ works for most morkies
Puppy donut beds | Small dog crates.
Safety and Walks
- XS harness — never a collar for small puppies
- 4-foot leash for walks
Grooming Kit
- Slicker brush and fine-tooth comb
- Tearless puppy shampoo
- Quiet nail grinder
- Eye wipes
First Vet Visit
Schedule within 72 hours of bringing them home. Bring any breeder records. Confirm the vaccine schedule and ask about microchipping if not already done.
Georgie arrived on a Tuesday. By Thursday he had already made three significant life decisions on my behalf. Welcome to morkie ownership. There is nothing better.
