Who Is Dr. Georgie? The Story of the Self-Diagnosing Morkie
Every great doctor has an origin story. Dr. Georgie’s just happens to involve a broken dew claw, a surprising amount of self-confidence, and one very impressed veterinarian.
Georgie is a morkie — a Maltese-Yorkie mix — and one of the most charming little dogs you’ll ever meet. He’s fluffy, opinionated, and somehow convinced he has a medical degree. This is his story.
The Incident That Started It All
It started with a dew claw. Georgie caught his nail on something and broke it — the kind of injury that makes most dogs whimper and retreat to their crate. Not Georgie.
Before anyone could even book the vet appointment, Georgie had already assessed the situation and handled it himself. He carefully chewed off the damaged nail, cleaned the area, and looked up as if to say: “Yeah, I got this.”
When he finally did see the vet, the veterinarian looked at the wound, looked at Georgie, and said with a laugh: “Looks like Dr. Georgie took care of things before you got here.”
And just like that, a brand was born.
What Is a Morkie, Exactly?
If you’re new to the morkie world, let us catch you up. A morkie is a designer hybrid breed — a cross between a Maltese and a Yorkshire Terrier. The result is a small, soft, wildly loveable dog that tends to have the best traits of both breeds.
- Size: Usually 4–8 pounds, making them ideal lap dogs and apartment companions
- Coat: Silky and often low-shedding (great for people with mild allergies)
- Personality: Affectionate, playful, and occasionally bossy in the most adorable way
- Lifespan: Typically 12–15 years with proper care
Georgie checks every one of those boxes — and then some.
The Dr. Georgie Brand
The Dr. Georgie website exists for one simple reason: to help other small dog owners navigate the wonderful, sometimes overwhelming world of pet care. From the best food and toys to grooming tips and training advice, everything here is filtered through the lens of what actually works for a morkie.
We test, research, and review products with small dogs in mind — because a Great Dane owner and a morkie owner have very different needs, and most “top dog product” lists don’t reflect that.
Why Trust Dr. Georgie?
Georgie has been through it all: puppy chaos, grooming appointments, picky eating phases, training standoffs, and yes, his famous self-surgery. He’s battle-tested, charming, and always willing to share what he’s learned.
Plus, he’s very good-looking. That has to count for something.
